The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the PSAT/NMSQT test will be given at Franklin High School on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30 a.m. in the Front Room. The PSAT allows your student the opportunity to practice for the SAT. The testing conditions will closely model those of the SAT. The PSAT scores are used to determine which students will qualify as a National Merit Semi-Finalist. Those who test in the top one percent, as juniors, move on to National Merit Semi-Finalist status and could qualify to become a National Merit Finalist in their senior year.
If you are interested in registering for the PSAT, please go to the link on the counseling website main page. The cost is $25. Once payment is made, you will be registered for the test. There are a limited number of tests available.
Registration will close on Thursday, October 10th or sooner if testing is full.
Upon registering, your child should reference the PSAT Bulletin at www.collegeboard.org. The Bulletin is the "study guide" for the PSAT.
On Wednesday, October 16th, students should report to the Franklin Front Room at 7:25 a.m. The Testing will start promptly at 7:30 am and finish before 11:00 am. Students will need to bring a picture I.D. Testing is digital this year. Students will be provided with a Chromebook.
Students will receive more detailed instructions the week of the test.
